A court in Khulna on Sunday convicted two members of banned militant outfit Jama'atul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) and sentenced them to 20 years' imprisonment in a case filed under the Explosive Substances Act.
The convicts are Nur Mohamamd Anik and Md Mojahidul Islam.
Khulna Additional Metropolitan and Sessions Judge SM Ashiqur Rahman pronounced the judgment in presence of the convicts.
The court also fined them Tk one lakh each, in default, to suffer six months more in jail.
According to the prosecution, police on January 25, 2020, arrested the convicts while they were holding a clandestine meeting on the ground floor of a three-story building at Sonadanga in Khulna city.
Huge amount of explosive making materials were recovered from their possession.
SI Rohit Kumar Biswas filed a case under the Explosives Act against the duo on the same day.
On August 22, 2020, police submitted a chargesheet against the duo.
