Child drowns in Sirajganj

A child drowned in the Karotoa river at Ullapara upazila in Sirajganj district on Saturday afternoon.

The deceased was Samiul Islam, 5, son of Telu Miah, a resident of Barohar village of the upazila.

Locals said Samiul drowned in the Karotoa river at Banshhata area while taking bath with his grandmother.

Members of Ullapara Fire Service & Civil Defence Station was informed to rescue.

Ullapara Fire Service Station leader Saiful Islam said firefighters had failed to rescue the child.

Later, Rajshahi Fire Service was requested to send a diving team.
