Leaders of the ruling Awami League have termed the proposal of Ganashasthya Kendra Trustee Dr Zafrullah Chowdhury of formation of a national government as 'unconstitutional.'
They said those who would never be able to go to power with people's mandate always try to look for ominous ways. The party leaders and workers will resist these activities.
The party leaders were speaking at a discussion organised at Bangabandhu International Conference Centre in observance of Awami League president Sheikh Hasina's 42nd Homecoming Day.
With Awami League presidium member Matia Chowdhury in the chair, the discussion was addressed by the party's general secretary Obaidul Quader, presidium members Sheikh Fazlul Karim Selim, Abdur Razzaq, Shahjahan Khan, Jahangir Kabir Nanak, Abdur Rahman, joint general secretary Mahbub-ul-Alam Hanif, Hasan Mahmud, AFM Bahauddin Nasim, organising secretary Ahmed Hossain, BM Mozammel Huque, and Mirza Azam, among others.
Speaking at the discussion, Abdur Razzaque said any kind of conspiracy would be foiled with the help of party leaders and workers. "We will resist all kinds of conspiracy in the days ahead like the past. A free and fair election will be held in Bangladesh and Sheikh Hasina will again be elected as prime minister through that election."
Jahangir Kabir Nanak observed that attempts were being made to come to power through illegal ways.
He said, "Conspiracy is going on with democracy. If any attempt is made to come to power in unconstitutional ways, it will be resisted."
Mahbub-ul-Alam Hanif said conspiracy is being hatched to form an unconstitutional government ousting the Sheikh Hasina government. "You are saying about the formation of an all-party government. Who are you? They are 1/11's beneficiaries. Those who will not be able to go to power through people's votes, they always try to find unlawful ways. They want to go to power adopting illegal means."
