Foreign trips of state-owned bank officials also banned

After banning all foreign trips by government employees and officials, the Ministry of Finance has imposed restriction on the foreign trips by officials of the state-owned banks and financial institutions.

The Ministry of Finance issued a circular in this regard on Monday.
Earlier, foreign trips were suspended on May 12 under the revenue and development budget to reduce pressure on foreign exchange reserves.

The circular signed by the ministry’s deputy secretary Mohammad Shawkat Ullah said that all exposure digits, study tours, travel covered by APA and Innovation and participation in workshops and seminars would be suspended until further notice in the wake of the post-COVID economic recovery and the current global crisis.

The circular states that the order will be applicable to both the development budget and the operating budget and will be effective immediately.

However, the day before, on May 11, while talking to reporters, Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal said if necessary, it is possible to travel abroad only for "strategic reasons."
