Around 217 underprivileged people underwent free cataract surgery in eye camps in Panchagarh, Thakurgaon, Nilphamari and Dinajpur districts recently.
The Eye Care Program of Manabik Shahajya Sangstha (ECP-MSS) organized these free eye camps with its own resources and donations from the ECP donors. The surgeries were performed at ECP's partner hospitals, reports UNB.
To eliminate preventable blindness among the underserved, six free eye screening camps were organized in Panchagarh, Thakurgaon, Nilphamari and Dinajpur during January 08- 25, 2022.
At these eye camps, comprehensive eye care services were provided to 1276 underserved people by qualified doctors, technicians using modern eye screening equipment.
Prescriptions were given to the patients with free spectacles. In addition, more than 700 basic eye care awareness flyers and posters were distributed among the patients.
"Aiming to make eye care services available to all people in rural regions, ECP-MSS with the technical support of its partner hospitals and donors has been providing eye care services," said MSS President Feroz M. Hassan.
"We have been working for the poor to restore their vision through performing surgeries," he added.
