Govt exploring legal scopes to send Khaleda abroad: Anisul

The government is exploring that whether there is any provision in the law to send ailing BNP chief Kahleda Zia abroad for advance treatment, Law Minister Anisul Huq has said.

“Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is considering the issue of Khaleda Zia on humanitarian ground. Earlier, two petitions were rejected for allowing Khaleda to go abroad. Now we are exploring whether there is any other legal opportunity in this regard,” said Anisul while addressing at a programme in Dhaka on Sunday.
The minister joined the inauguration of the 25th Judicial Administration Training Course for District and Sessions Judges and Metropolitan Sessions Judges at Judicial Administration Training Institute in the capital.

The decision should be taken after all the scrutiny is completed, so that the law is not violated, said Anisul Huq.

About Digital Security Act, Anisul Huq said the government has enacted the Digital Security Act to curb cyber crime, not to restrict freedom of expression or freedom of the press.

The minister further said, “Eight cyber tribunals have been set up in eight divisions of the country to try cyber crime cases. District judges have to oversee the work of the cyber tribunal.”

Judicial Administration Training Institute director general Justice Nazmun Ara Sultana chaired the programme while the law secretary Md Golam Sarwar spoke, among others.
