BNP can bring doctors for Khaleda from abroad: Law Minister

Law Minister Anisul Huq has said the government will have no objection if BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia's family and the party want to bring home renowned doctors from abroad for her treatment.

"The government will not oppose to it. But, BNP will have to remember that the government will not do anything else going beyond the law of the land," he said.

He was replying to queries of journalists after addressing an extended meeting of Awami League at Akhaura Pourasava Auditorium in Brahmanbaria district on the occasion of union parishad elections as the chief guest on Saturday morning being connected with a video conference.

BNP has been demanding the release of its Chairperson Khaleda Zia so she can go abroad for better treatment.

As part of a countrywide programme, hundreds of BNP leaders and activists observed a mass hunger strike in the capital on Saturday demanding to allow its critically ill chairperson  to go abroad for advanced treatment.

On behalf of the family, Khaleda's younger brother, Shamim Iskander, submitted an application to the Home Ministry on November 11 urging the government to allow her to go abroad for better treatment.

Addressing the party leaders and workers, Anisul Huq said none would be allocated the 'Boat' symbol of the party in Akhaura UP election. Anybody can contest for any post, but not relying on 'Boat.' "I want you get elected on the basis of your popularity," he said.
