Covered van catches fire in Dinajpur

A covered van of  AJR courier company loaded with goods caught fire in Dinajpur district town on Thursday.

Sabur Islam, driver of the covered van, said that he was not aware that a fire was broke out inside the covered van.

"Locals gave me signal to stop my covered van when it reached Shershah Bottola point at about 2:30pm. Later, I saw smock and flame inside the vehicle when opened it," he added.
Being informed, a unit of Dinajpur Fire Service rushed to the spot and douse the fire.

Mujibul Haque Azad, branch manager of Dinajpur AJR courier, said the driver with the help of his associate and locals unloaded some goods as much as they could.

Most of the goods worth about Tk 2 crore were completely destroyed by the fire, he added.
