School girl found slaughtered, boy with severe injuries in Tangail

Police recovered the throat-slit body of a school girl at Kalihati upazila in Tangail district on Wednesday morning.
The deceased was identified as Sumaiya Akter, 15, a ninth grader of Elenga High School. She was the daughter of Ferdous Rahman, a resident of Palima area under the upazila.
The law enforcers also rescued her class mate Monir Hossain, 17, son of Meher Ali of Bhabla village under the upazila, with several stab injuries from the same spot.
He was shifted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) for better treatment after he had underwent a surgery at Tangail 250-bed General Hospital.
Locals spotted the girl slaughtered while the boy in a pool of blood in front of Shamsul Haque College under Elenga municipality around 7:30am and informed police.
Police, later, recovered Sumaiya's body and sent Monir to the hospital, said Kalihati Police Station officer in-charge (OC) Mollah Azizur Rahman.
The deceased's father Ferdous said his daughter left home around 6:00am to go to a coaching class. Later, he came to know about her murder around 8:00am.
Meanwhile, Monir’s aunt Rozina Begum said he went out of the house on Tuesday night and did not return.
They were informed this morning that he was hospitalized in a critical condition, she added.
The reason behind the killing is still sketchy said the OC, adding that police are sincerely investigating the matter.
