Bangladesh Puja Udjapan Parishad has asked to know why electricity went off at Nanuar Dighir Par puja mandap in Cumilla city at about 3:00am on October 13.

"The puja mandap at Nanuar Dighir Par in Cumilla city was a makeshift one. The power supply went off sometime between 3:00am and 4:00am on that day. Who had cut off the power supply there? Was this matter investigated thoroughly," asked Nirmal Kumar Chatterjee, general secretary of the Bangladesh Puja Udjapan Parishad, while addressing a press conference at Dhakeshwari Temple in the capital on Friday.
While reading out a written statement at the press conference, Nirmal Chatterjee asked: "Why was the OC of the police station concerned allowed to take video after removing the holy Quran from the idol of Hanuman and why did that video go viral? This is a big question."

Nirmal Kumar Chatterjee said they decided not to celebrate Kali Puja (Dipaboli) this year in protest against the attack as they are not well after the incidents and will hold this puja (also known as Shyama Puja) in a single day and will cancel the second days' programmes during the puja.

The parishad also decided they would cover their faces with a black cloth on that day.

Nirmal Chatterjee observed that real culprits are spared from punishment due to blame game among political parties which is not a good thing for law and order and mutual trust.

The culture of impunity and injustice are encouraging culprits and communal violence is going on for this reason, he added.

The parishad also demanded renovation of all the damaged temples and houses through government fund and rehabilitating homeless Hindu people and giving proper compensation to all victims including affected businesses.
