45km long traffic congestion in Sirajganj

A 45km long severe traffic jam was created on the Dhaka-Rajshahi Highway from Chandaikona in Sirajganj district to Elenga in Tangail district on Thrusday.

As the renovation work of Nalka Bridge to Bangabandhu Bridge West Link Highway is underway, it is the reason behind the severe traffic congestion.
Hatikumrul Highway Police officer-in-charge Rafiqul Islam said on Thursday afternoon that the renovation work of the Nalka Bridge was completed. Now vehicles are moving slowly through both lanes. So, pressure on the traffics is decreasing.

Officer-in-charge of Bangabandhu Bridge West Police Station Mosaddek Hossain said, “Despite the traffic jam, no vehicle was stopped. There was a movement. I hope the traffic will return to normal on the highway by mid-evening.”
