Rangpur division records 6.38pc Covid-19 positivity rate

Rangpur division recorded 6.38 percent Covid-19 positivity rate as 12 fresh cases were reported after testing 188 new samples at the two laboratories in the division on Tuesday.

Health officials said the coronavirus situation continues improving amid declining positivity and casualty rates and rising recovery rate during the last two months in the division.

Earlier, the daily Covid-19 positivity rates were 2.16 percent on Monday, 2.87 percent on Sunday, 3.48 percent on Saturday, 2.47 percent on
Friday, 6.11 percent on Thursday and 6.85 percent on Wednesday last in the division, BSS reports.

Among the 12 new patients, four were reported positive after diagnosing 94 new samples at the Covid-19 Laboratory at Rangpur Medical College (RpMC) in Rangpur at the daily positivity rate of 4.26 percent today.

"The four new Covid-19 patients include two from Rangpur and one each from Kurigram and Dinajpur districts," Principal of RpMC Professor Dr AKM Nurunnobi Lyzu told BSS at 7:15 pm.

On the other hand, eight new patients were reported after diagnosing 94 samples at the Covid-19 Laboratory at M Abdur Rahim Medical College (MARMC) in Dinajpur at the daily positivity rate of 8.51 percent today.

"The eight new Covid-19 infected patients include one each from Dinajpur and Panchagarh and six from Thakurgaon districts," Principal of MARMC Professor Dr Syed Nazir Hossain said.

Divisional Director (Health) Dr Md Motaharul Islam said the number of Covid-19 patients rose to 55,163 as 12 new positive cases were reported today from across the division.

"The district-wise break up of total 55,163 patients include 12,433 of Rangpur, 3,791 Panchagarh, 4,430 of Nilphamari, 2,736 of Lalmonirhat, 4,634 of Kurigram, 7,581 of Thakurgaon, 14,705 of Dinajpur and 4,853 of Gaibandha in the division," he added.
