BFUJ election stayed for next 2 months

The High Court has stayed the election process of Bangladesh Federal Union of Journalists (BFUJ), scheduled for October 23, for next two months.

An HC bench of Justice Md Mojibur Rahman Miah and Md Kamrul Hossain Mollah passed the order on Tuesday following a writ filed earlier on charge of irregularities in the voter list.

Mohammad Hasan Ferdous, former general secretary of Chattogram Union of Journalists, filed the writ as one of the voter's name was dropped from the voter list.

The court, at the same time, issued a rule asking the authorities concerned to explain why their inaction to amend the BFUJ voter list should not be declared illegal.
