Voluntary organization Last Mile Life organized a week-long event named 'Peace Program 2021' to celebrate the International Day of Peace.
The Peace Program commenced with a Mental Health Workshop on September 17, followed by an international webinar on 20th and finally concluded through a national live session on September 21, the International Day of Peace. The theme of the day this year was “Recovering better for an equitable and sustainable world”.

The main attraction of the programme was the international webinar and the national live session which was coordinated in collaboration with The Commonwealth Youth Peace Ambassadors Network Bangladesh (CYPAN Bangladesh) as the knowledge partner of ‘Peace Program 2021’.

On September 20, speakers from different countries embraced the international webinar on “Building Peace Together: Recovering better for an equitable and sustainable world.”

Edla Puoskari (Program Manager of Finn Church Aid), Htet Swe (Executive Director of Peace Point – Myanmar), Ali Asif (Co-founder of Kafka Welfare Organization, Country coordinator CYPAN, Pakistan), Dr. Motahar Akand (Chairperson of Right Center Trust), Peter Riddell (Convenor of Initiative for Reconciliation), Qurratul Ayen (Action Researcher of Centre for Development Practice, Ambedkar University, Alumni CYPAN, Bangladesh.) joined the webinar as panelists. Edla Puoskari discussed about violent extremism and shared her experience working on this issue. Peter Riddell shared his knowledge about inner peace and how to achieve that.

All the panelists shared their knowledge, perspectives and experiences about peace and peacebuilding with the participants. Young peacebuilders got to perceive expert insights and learn the global spheres of peace initiatives from this webinar.

The next day, on the eve of the International Day of Peace on September 21, the national live session on “Journey Towards a Peaceful Bangladesh: Experiences, challenges and aspects” was held which wrapped the program.

A bunch of experienced and knowledgeable panelists discussed the challenges and practicalities in building peace in the context of Bangladesh.

Dr Md Touhidul Islam (Associate Professor, Department of Peace and Conflict Studies, University of Dhaka), Zia Uddin (Program Manager, Center for Peace and Justice), Mithela Haque (Youth Activist, Country Coordinator of CYPAN Bangladesh, Compassion Integrity Training Facilitator) and Md. Sariful Islam (IBP Coordinator, Climate Finance Governance, British Council) were present as speakers in the live show.

This show was moderated by Nishat Aunjum Semonti, Head of Operations, Last Mile Life. They shared their valuable thoughts and experiences with the viewers. The discussion covered a vast area including academic and practical perspectives of peacebuilding in Bangladesh. It was thought-provoking, engaging and viewers were enlightened more about  peacebuilding, resilience, inclusiveness and various other aspects of Peace.

Earlier on 17 September, Last Mile Life also arranged a workshop titled “Mindfulness: Peace within” which was the opening event of the week-long program. The motive was to create awareness about mental health and its importance, and to embrace the techniques of mindfulness with Moner School as the Knowledge partner. To make this session more versatile, effective and widespread, the organization collaborated with Nikunjo.com and Grace. Faysal Ahmed Rafi - psychologist, life coach and former CEO of ‘BDListeners' - joined the workshop as the trainer and shared his knowledge on mental health and mindfulness. Participants' response was enormous and most of them were from the younger generation. As the population is going through a tough mental period fighting and trying to recover from COVID-19, participants found this workshop profoundly helpful.
