DU to reopen halls Oct 5; ID, vaccine certificate must for entry

The Dhaka University syndicate has decided to re-open its residential halls from October 5 next.
Besides, the university libraries will be opened from September 26.
Students must show proof that they have received at least one dose of vaccine to enter their respective dormitories.
The decision was taken at an emergency meeting of the syndicate held on Saturday (September 18) with vice-chancellor Prof Dr Md Akhtaruzzaman in the chair.
Earlier, the Academic Council approved the recommendation of the Provost Standing Committee to re-open the halls on October 5.
The Syndicate also approved the recommendation following the approval of the Academic Council.
Initially, undergraduate 4th year students and graduate students will be let into their respective halls from 8:00am on October 5 provided that they have received at least the first dose of the vaccine.
The University Provost Standing Committee and Academic Council came up with the decision at a university syndicate meeting on Saturday.
The University Central Library, Science Library and Department, seminar rooms will remain open from 10:00am to 5:00pm on September 26, said Pro-Vice Chancellor (Education) ASM Maksud Kamal.
He added that student IDs and proof of at least one dose of vaccine will be strictly monitored by the university authorities.
