President of CIS-BCCI (Commonwealth of Independent States-Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce and Industry) Md Habib Ullah Dawn along with his board of directors met with the Russian Ambassador to Bangladesh Alexander Vikentyevich Mantytskiy in Dhaka on Monday. The CIS-BCCI president highlighted his chamber's activities in Bangladesh economy in particular their contribution to private sector business. He also discussed and about trade and economic cooperation between Bangladesh and CIS countries and also made special focus on trade with Russia. He emphasized on the potentiality of Russian market for Bangladesh as well as Bangladesh's export destination to Russian and also in the CIS market. Mr Dawn said along with Bangladesh's RMG (Readymade Garments) Russian is also a good market for Bangladesh's garments accessories, pharmaceuticals, leather goods, seafood and others.
The President expressed his hope that by establishing Inter Government Commission (IGC) Bangladesh's mutual trade and economic cooperation will be broader and deeper. In response the Russian Ambassador also reciprocated the idea saying that both Russian and Bangladesh are engaged in deep friendship right after liberation of Bangladesh and the two countries are widening the scope for furthering bilateral trade and commerce. He appreciated the role of CIS Chamber in fostering close business ties with Russia and underscored on expediting the operation of roadmap to implement the decisions of 2nd protocol of IGC and for improving business to business cooperation between the two countries. Among others the CIS-BCCI Senior Vice President Mohammad Ali Deen, Advisers Manzur Ahmed Mahbub Islam Runu, Directors- Tauhida Sultana, Dr. Joshoda Jibon Deb Nath, CIP, Salma Hossain Ash, Abdul Latif Sarker and Secretary of the chamber Mustafa Mohiuddin were present at the courtesy meeting.
