Another consignment of over 54 lakh doses of China's SinopharmCOVID-19 vaccine arrived in Dhaka early Saturday.
This is, so far, the second-largest batch of vaccine doses commercially purchased by Bangladesh from China.
A flight of Bangladesh Airlines, carrying 54,01,350 vaccine doses, landed at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in the capital at about 12:45am.
Dr Shamsul Huque, Member Secretary of the Vaccine Deployment Committee of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), received the consignment at the airport. Those have been, later, sent to the storage.
With these, China have supplied over 2 crore doses of Sinopharm COVID vaccine to Bangladesh commercially.
Earlier on Friday night, Hualong Yan, Deputy Chief of Mission at the Chinese Embassy in Dhaka, confirmed the matter through a Facebook post.
