Petition filed again for Pori Moni's remand; hearing Thursday

Criminal Investigation Department (CID) has filed a petition seeking five-day remand again for actress Pori Moni in a case filed under Narcotics Control Act.

The hearing will be held on Thursday before the court of Metropolitan Magistrate Debabrata Biswas in presence of Pori Moni.

The Metropolitan Magistrate said on Wednesday that though a petition for remand has already been submitted, the bail plea was not heard  today. Then, her lawyer Mujibur Rahman withdrew the bail appeal filed earlier.

The lawyer said he will file the bail appeal for Pori Moni Thursday.

The court, however, fixed tomorrow for hearing on the remand prayer.

Mujibur Rahman filed the bail plea on Monday before the court of Metropolitan Magistrate Rezaul Karim Chowdhury.

A court in Dhaka on August 13 rejected a bail to actress Pori Moni and sent her to jail in the same case filed with Banani Police Station.

On August 5, Pori Moni and her associate Ashraful Islam Dipu were shown arrested in the case filed by the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB).

The elite force raided the house of Pori Moni at her residence in Banani on August 4. At that time, liquor bottles and other drugs were seized from the house.
