Bangladesh report 198 Covid deaths, 7,535 cases

Bangladesh on Tuesday saw another 198 fatalities and 7,535 cases from novel coronavirus in the last 24 hours till 8 am.

The country has been seeing fatalities below 200 for the last five days, a slight improvement from the July 25- August 13 period when daily deaths were recorded over 200.
The death toll from Covid-19 reached 24,547 while the total number of cases surged to 14,33,396.

In the last 24 hours, 12,950 Covid infected patients made recovery, taking the recovery counts to to 13,14,916.

As many as 39,218 samples were tested, yielding a positivity rate of 19.18 per cent. The recovery rate is 91.73 per cent and the mortality rate at 1.71 per cent.

China reported first death from the novel coronavirus in Wuhan, the capital of Central China’s Hubei province, on January 11 last year.

Bangladesh reported its first coronavirus case on March 8 last year and the first death on March 18 the same year.

According to Worldometer's Covid-19 data, the deadly virus has killed  43,87,158 people globally and infected 20,88,70,154 while   18,72,39,068 made recovery as of today afternoon.
