Bangladesh reports 237 more deaths from coronaviurs

Bangladesh on Wednesday reported 237 deaths and 10,420 cases from novel coronavirus in the span of 24 hours.
So far, the deadly virus claimed 23,398 lives and infected 13,86,742 people in the country.
In the last 24 hours, 708 coronavirus testing laboratories across the country collected 44,008 samples and tested 44,430.
With this, a total of 82,56,741 samples were tested in the country.
Health authorities also reported 13,313 more recoveries over the preceding 24 hours, taking the total number of recoveries to 12,48,075, according to data released by the government.
On August 5, the country reported 264 deaths shattering its previous single-day record of 258 Covid deaths on July 27 and it was repeated on August 10 when the country logged 268 deaths.
The positivity rate during the 24-hour period fell a little to 23.45 per cent from Tuesday’s 23.58 per cent while the World Health Organization (WHO) recommends a 5 per cent or below rate.
The recovery rate rose to 90 per cent. However, the case fatality rate rose to 1.69 per cent during the period after remaining static at 1.68 per cent for a few days.
Bangladesh reported its first coronavirus case on March 8 last year and the first death on March 18 the same year.
China reported first death from the novel coronavirus in Wuhan, the capital of Central China’s Hubei province, on January 11 last year.
