A female doctor adopts cheating for fame and fortune
Capitalising coronavirus pandemic, Dr Ishrat Rafique Eshita used to charge money providing fake certificates to doctors by conducting virtual workshops and seminars.

Besides, she used to attract young people alluring them to provide certificates by foreigners in exchange of cash.

She arranged Covid-19 treatment training for minimum 120 doctors during the outbreak and provided them training certificates in exchange of Tk 3,000-4,000 each.

It was disclosed by Commander Khondker Al Moyeen, Director of the Legal and Media Wing of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB), while addressing a press conference at the RAB's Media Centre at Karwan Bazar in the capital on Sunday afternoon.

The so-called medical doctor and researcher Ishrat Rafique Eshita and her accomplice Shahidul Islam Didar were arrested by RAB during a drive at about 9:30am on Sunday at a house at 481,2/a, North Ibrahimpur, Mirpur 13, Dhaka.

After her arrest, RAB seized fake identity cards, fake business cards, fake seals, fake certificates, passports, laptop, 300 yaba pills, five bottles of foreign liquor, two uniforms of Brigadier General, ranks, badges and mobile phone from the house.

Commander Khondker Al Moyeen said arrested Ishrat Rafique Eshita is a medical doctor by profession. She used to introduce herself as a discussant, medical scientist, researcher, PhD holder, human rights activist, organiser, Brigadier General etc. Eshita also used to claim that she held important posts at different international organisations. In fact, she has no other degree except an MBBS from a private medical college. But, she had put all the higher degrees of medical science beside her name. '' website shows Eshita claims her qualifications as MBBS (CBMC,B), MPH (BSMMU), MD,DO (Hyperbaric Medicine, ACHM,USA); Medical Scientist & Researcher, PhD candidate.

She mentions that she is a researcher at the Department of Population Health at New York University School of Medicine, USA. Her research specialization is Epidemiology.

In another website, she mentions that she worked as HMO (Radiation Oncology) at National Institute of Cancer Research and Hospital, Dhaka from 2017; in Preventive and Social Medicine at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University, Dhaka

RAB said Eshita earned MBBS degree from a private medical college in Mymensingh in 2013. In June 2014, she joined as a doctor at a private hospital in Mirpur. Then she got a contractual appointment as a doctor at a government agency where she was suspended just after four months for allegedly getting involved in 'immoral acts.'

Spokesman of RAB Khondker Al Moyeen said, "Eshita adopted the practice of cheating mainly due to her high ambition. She embezzled money providing training to doctors during the corona pandemic. She was arrested on the basis of information provided by the RAB's cyber monitoring and intelligence teams."

She bought the rank of 'Brigadier General' from a website operating from the Philippines for US$400, the RAB official said.

Eshita started an organisation named ''Young World Leader for Humanity' which has no approval or registration.

She arranged trainings in Afghanistan and Burundi and arranged award programmes there.

She appeared on different satellite television channels and IPTV talk shows, and on social media, as an expert in cancer, Covid-19 treatment, and other health issues.

She convinced various media houses to publish reports of her 'success story,' said the RAB official.

The other arrestee is Eshita's associate, Shahidul Islam Didar, 29, who claimed to be founder and ambassador of various organisations.
