Fakir Alamgir's condition worsens


The physical condition of singer Fakir Alam, who has been undergoing treatment at a hospital after being infected with Covid-19, has deteriorated further. He had a heart attack at 10:00pm on Friday, His son Mashuk Alamgir Rajib confirmed the Daily Observer about it.

Earlier on Friday, Mashuk said, "D-dimer in my father's body has fallen. Infection was found in his blood and lungs. Blood pressure becomes very low. He suffers from fever everyday morning due to infection in blood. Please pray for my father."

D-dimer is one of the protein fragments produced when a blood clot gets dissolved in the body.

It was learnt on Thursday that Fakir Alamgir's oxygen saturation went up 100 per cent. Though his right lung became free from infection, the left lung was still fighting against virus. As a result, his oxygen saturation level falls at 75 per cent whenever he turns right.

Mashuk said his father was given new antibiotic from Friday. "If this antibiotics doesn't work, it will be very ominous for him."

Fakir Alamgir tested Covid-19 positive on July 14 last. Since then he had been taking treatment staying at home at the advise of doctor. But his fever and breathing complications went up on the following evening. Then he was rushed to the hospital.

Fakir Alamgir is a folk and pop singer. After the Liberation War in 1971, he emerged as a Gono Sangeet (inspiration songs for the masses) singer. He was awarded Ekushey Padak in 1999. He started his music career in 1966. He played his role as a singer in 1969 uprising in East Pakistan. He worked with Swadhin Bangla Betar Kendra during the Liberation War.
