India to expand cotton exports to Bangladesh

India will soon sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to expand exports of cotton to Bangladesh.
MoUs are processed by the Cotton Corporation of India Limited (CCI), which allows the export of at least 100,000 rupees of cotton. It was supposed to be signed during this year's Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to Bangladesh, but could not be signed due to state elections.
Bangladesh imports 20 to 30 easy (each weighing about 120 kg) cotton bales from India each year. This is the first time CCI has attempted to enter the export market directly. The deal is in the final stages and the two governments are actively negotiating the deal, according to Indian media reports.
Bangladesh is reportedly concerned that the Indian government will take more time to supply than rapid private exporters.    -Fiber2Fashion
