HC issues 5 directives to ensure identities of complainants

The High Court (HC) in a full text of its June 14 order, issued five directives to become sure about the identities of informants and complainants in criminal cases.
A High Court division virtual bench of Justice M Enayetur Rahim and Justice Md Mostafizur Rahman had passed the short order after holding hearing on a writ petition filed in this regard. The court released the full text of that order yesterday.
The five directions are
a.The national identity card number or the number passport of the complainant has to be there in the FIR.
b.If the informant or the complainant does not have any national identity card number, number of national identity card of the person identifying him, has to be mentioned.
c.If under any circumstances, the complainant is found to have no identity card, the concerned police officer will take any other appropriate measure to identify him.
d.While filing any complaint before any court or tribunal, if the complainant is found to have no identity card, his lawyer would have to identify him.
e.If the informant or complainant is found to be a foreigner, the number of his passport has to be mentioned.
The court in its order, directed the authorities concerned to send copies of this to Home Ministry, Law Ministry, Inspector General of Police, Supreme Court Registrar General and CID, among others.
