Cop killed as unidentified vehicle hits bicycle in Dhanmondi

A policeman was killed as an unknown vehicle reportedly hit his bicycle at Dhanmondi area in the capital at early hours of Saturday.

Deceased Bashir Uddin Talukdar, 44, worked at Mirpur Department. His village home was at Kantikpasha village in Dhumki upazila of Patuakhali district.

Dhanmondi Police Station sub-inspector (SI) Palash Biswas said Bashir was rescued from Dhanmondi Road No 7 around 12:30 am in critical condition.

A bicycle and a table fan were found beside him on the road while it was raining, said the official.

Bashir was sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital where the on-duty doctor declared him dead.

The Police Station officer in-charge (OC) Md Ikram Ali said police will collect a CCTV footage from a private bank, situated where the incident happened, and identify the vehicle that caused the accident.
