Abu Twa-haa, two others handed over to family



Islamic preacher Abu Twa-haa, who had been missing for last eight days, has been handed over to his family on Friday night amid tight police security.

Abu Twa-haa's maternal uncle Aminul Islam said, "A court in Rangpur called me and Twa-haa's mother on Friday night. Later he and two of his friends were released at about 11:40pm in presence of us."

Aminul Islam expressed his gratitude to the Prime Minister, Home Minister and also people of the country for safe return of Abu Twa-haa.

Confirming the matter, Kotwali Police Station OC Abdur Rashid said the court released them after recording their statements.

The trio were taken to Rangpur Chief Magistrate KM Hafizur Rahman's court at 9:30pm.

The Islamic preacher was rescued on Friday afternoon. Later, police took him to the police station from his in-laws’ house in Master Para adjacent to the Meteorological office in Rangpur city.

Abu Twa-haa along with his associates Abdul Muhit and Mohammad Firoz, and driver Amir Uddin Foyez had been missing since June 10 while returning Dhaka from Rangpur.

He and his friends claimed themselves to be in hiding at a friend's place in Gaibandha district for some personal reasons.
