Country seeing rise in Covid cases, deaths

Bangladesh reported 60 more deaths and 3,956 cases from coronavirus in the last 24 hours till 8:00 am on Wednesday.
On Tuesday, the country reported 3,319 Covid-19 cases and 50 deaths.
With the new figures, the total death reached at 13,282 and cases at 8,37,247, says a press release issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
Health authorities also reported 2,679 more recoveries over the preceding 24 hours, taking the total number of recoveries to 7,73,752, according to data released by the government.
In the last 24 hours, 512 coronavirus testing laboratories across the country collected 23,967 samples and tested 23,807.
With this, a total of 62,42,786 samples were tested in the country.
Among 60 deaths, eight are from Dhaka, eight from Chattogram, 17 from Rajshahi, 14 from Khulna, six from Sylhet, four from Rangpur, and three from Mymensingh division.
The infection rate is 16.62 per cent in the last 24 hours, compared to the samples tested, while the overall infection rate is 13.41 per cent.
So far, the recovery rate is 92.42 per cent and the mortality rate is 1.59 per cent.
China reported first death from the novel coronavirus in Wuhan, the capital of Central China’s Hubei province, on January 11 last year.
Bangladesh reported its first coronavirus case on March 8 last year and the first death on March 18 the same year.
According to Worldometer's Covid-19 data, the deadly virus has killed 38,39,931 people globally and infected 17,74,70,620 while 16,19,19,653 made recovery as of today afternoon.
