BNP standing committee Mirza Abbas on Tuesday said a puppet government is ruling the country.
“I think one thing over and over again, this country is probably not run by the Awami League, maybe I’m wrong, but I think over and over again. I believe this country is not run by Awami League, a puppet government is sitting in this country,” said Abbas while at a programme in Dhaka.
Nari O Shishu Odhikar Forum arranged the programme at BNP’s central office at Nayapaltan demanding the release of all political prisoners, including BNP leader Nipun Roy.
He said, “Any group, institution or organization has put up the puppet called Awami League to protect them as per someone’s instructions. There is no organization, institution or person of Awami League who did not commit robbery. Thousand crores of money has been smuggled abroad. If the Awami League is not in power, they will be tried.”
“Many private and government employees like PK Haldar have looted money from Bangladeshi. Those who are staying at home and abroad will also be brought under justice. So many murders, robberies and disappearances-these too will be judged. Fearing all those trials, perhaps a group has kept this government afloat.”
Raising question over the arrest of Nipun Roy, Mirza Abbas said, “Those who are real criminals in Bangladesh today are being released. Her (Nipun) crime is she spoke on the telephone. Alal has explained to us how one can manipulate the voice of others. I don’t think there are any laws in this country.”
