Expelled AL leader held over rice scam in Nandigram

Police have arrested two persons, including an expelled Awami League leader, at Nandigram upazila in Bogura district.

The arrested are Ansar Ali, expelled president of AL in Ward No. 7 under Sadar Union, and Nur Mohammad Akkas Ali of Damgara village in the municipal area.

Ansar Ali was arrested in a case filed over the scam of 168-sack rice of Tk 10 meant for poor people while Akkas Ali held in three cases, including of sabotage case.

Police arrested the duo from Simla Bazar in the upazila on Monday evening, Nandigram Police Station OC Kamrul Islam confirmed.
