The High Court on Tuesday directed not to cut down trees and to stop construction of infrastructure at historic Suhrawardy Udyanin in Dhaka till May 20.

An HC bench of Justice Mamnun Rahman and Justice Khandoker Diliruzzaman passed the order giving this responsibility to the Attorney General.

The court said Attorney General AM Amin Uddin, "The next hearing will be held on May 20. Take necessary steps so no trees at the Suhrawardy Udyan are felled during this time."

Six environmental organisation including Bangladesh Environmental Lawyers Association (BELA) and an individual filed a writ with the HC on Sunday.
