3 educationists become national professors

The government has appointed three eminent educationists as national professors for the next five years.
They are former Chittagong University vice-chancellor and emeritus professor Alamgir Mohammad Sirajuddin, Diabetic Association of Bangladesh (BIRDEM) vice president AK Azad Khan and Bangladesh Gastroenterology Society president Professor Dr Mahmud Hasan.
The Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education of the Ministry of Education issued a notification in this regard on Thursday.
National Professor is a prestigious teaching award given by the Government of Bangladesh for outstanding contribution on the field of education.
The awarded persons receive various facilities from the government.
They receive a fixed amount of salary through the University Grants Commission.
They are able to do any educational/research work in with any research organisation/institute in their choice.
They receive all the facilities from the respected organisations/institutes.
They are able to join any foreign university as visiting professor.
They will not be able to take any salary from any other organisations/institutes except the government.
They will not be treated as government officers.
