A delegation of five leaders of Hefazat-e-Islam has met with Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal at his residence in Dhaka.
They went to the official residence of the Home Minister in Dhanmondi around 9:20 pm on Tuesday and will hold a meeting with the minister.
Hefazat leaders include Maulana Nurul Islam Jehadi, secretary general of the recently dissolved committee and member secretary of the current convening committee.
Hefazat-e-Islam leaders did not want to comment when reporters present in front of the home minister’s residence asked about the meeting.
Earlier, two former joint secretaries general of Hefazat Mainuddin Ruhi and Mufti Faizullah, also met with the home minister at his official residence on Sunday night.
The government has taken a tough stance on Hefazat-e-Islam after protests and violence against the visit of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. For a month, leaders of various levels, including the central committee of the organization, were arrested.
