BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia, undergoing treatment at the Evercare Hospital in the city, has been shifted to the CCU on Monday afternoon following severe respiratory problem.
She was shifted to the CCU around 4pm as she experienced breathing difficulties.
BNP Chairperson's Media Wing member Shamsuddin Didar confirme media about the matter.
The accumulation of fluid in Khaleda Zia's lungs causes her breathing problem and unstable pulse rate, said physicians concerned.
Khaleda Zia was admitted to Evercare Hospital on April 27 for thorough health check-up.
On completion of all the tests, her physicians said they will review the reports and make a decision about her release from the hospital.
The physician also said Khaleda had no symptom of the coronavirus.
Khaleda Zia tested positive for Covid-19 test on April 10 as eight people at her residence were infected with the virus. She underwent the second Covid-19 test on April 14 and the report was positive.
Amid the coronavirus outbreak, the government freed Khaleda Zia from jail for six months through an executive order suspending her sentences on March 25 last year.
