Bomb blasts at Meherpur AL factional clash; 4 injured



Four persons were injured in a clash between two factions of Awami League at Gangni upazila in Meherpur district on Saturday morning.

Locals said UP chairman Golam Faruk and Chhatra League leader Rakibul Islam Tutul have been at loggerheads in the area over establishing supremacy in the area.

Supporters of both groups locked into a clash at Saharbati village around 9 am that left four persons injured.

A total of five bombs were exploded during the clash in the presence of law enforcers.

Two of the critically injured were admitted to Gangni Upazila Health Complex.

Gangni Police Station officer in-charge (OC) Bazlur Rahman said police brought the situation under control.

Additional police were deployed in the area to avert any kinds of untoward situations.
