At least 15 shops housed at Zila Parishad Super Market in Jashore district town were gutted by fire on Wednesday night.

The fire originated at about 11:30pm at the market.

The clothes traders claimed that the damaged caused by the fire is estimated around Tk one crore.

Jashore Fire Service and Civil Defence's assistant director Kamaluddin Bhuiyan said on information, two fire fighting units rushed to the scene and doused the blaze after two hours of frantic efforts.

The fire might have been caused by electric short circuit, he said.
