Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) has asked all doctors and health workers to carry their identity cards and show those when required.

In a bulletin on Wednesday, it also sought the help of law enforcement agencies to ensure the hassle-free movement of frontline health workers during the lockdown.
"The full cooperation of law enforcement agencies is highly desirable for any physician, nurse or other health workers," said Non-Communicable Disease Control (NCDC) Line Director Dr Robed Amin.

"It is the moral duty of the law enforcers to cooperate sympathetically with the health workers when demanding identity cards and to facilitate their speedy and unimpeded movement," he added.

The government has imposed a strict weeklong lockdown from 14 April and later extended it until 28 April.

During the lockdown, no one is allowed to go outside home without any emergency.

However, physicians, media professionals and people associated with the emergency services are out of the purview of the movement restrictions.
