Covid-19 cases cross 46,000 marks in Ctg

CHATTOGRAM, Apr 15: The number of coronavirus (Covid-19) cases crossed the 46,000 mark in the district where the infection rate continues rising hurriedly again in recent weeks.
Health officials said the number of Covid-19 cases speedily raised to 46,075 as 367 more persons were reported Covid-19 positive after testing 1442 samples with the daily infection rate of 25.45 percent on Wednesday in the district.
"The infection rate is showing a quickly rising trend again and recovery rate declining continuously in the district in recent weeks," Focal Person of Covid-19 and Dr Sheikh Fazle Rabbi, civil surgeon of Chattogram, said.
The health expert urged city dwellers again and again to strictly follow health rules and use masks due to continuous increasing corona infections here.
Among the newly detected patients, 293 are from Chattogram city and 74 from different upazilas of the district, hospital sources said.
The infection toll now stands at 46,075 and there is no death on Wednesday, the number of coronavirus (Covid-19) deaths in Chattogram reached 437, Dr Sheikh Fazle Rabbi, said.
Among the reported fatalities, 321 were the residents of the port city and the rest 116 were from different upazilas of the district.
Civil surgeon said that among the total infected persons, 36,944 are the residents of the port city and the rest 9131 are residents of different upazilas of the district.
"The number of cured patients from the lethal virus infection has reached 35,045 in the Chattogram district with the recovery of 91 more patients on Wednesday," Dr Rabbi said, adding that the percentage of recovery rate stands at 76.18.
A total of 1356 infected patients are now undergoing treatment at designated hospitals here, the health official mentioned.    -BSS
