All the shops and business establishments, except drug stores and kitchen markets, will remain closed after 6:00pm every day in Chattogram city.
The district administration took the decision on Friday due to a rapid rise in coronavirus or Covid-19 infection.
In order to contain the fatal virus, this directive will remain effective till April 14.
Chattogram Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Mominur Rahman said except medicine shops and kitchen markets, all the shops, hotels, restaurants and shopping centres in Chattogram would remain closed after 6:00pm due to alarming rise in coronavirus cases in the port city.
Besides, people won't be allowed to gather at a single place, he said.
The deputy commissioner said the executive magistrates of the district administration would remain in the filed to monitor whether the directive is followed or not. Stringent legal measures would be taken against those who would be found violating the directive.
Later, a new directive will be issued depending on coronavirus situation, he added.
A total of 518 Covid-19 cases have been detected in the port city in the last 24 hours. At the same time, one person died being infected with Covid-19.
