Police on Saturday night arrested three more persons in a case filed over the attack on houses of some local Hindus at Noagaon village in Shalla upazila of Sunamganj district.
Confirming the arrest, Shalla Police Station OC Md Nazmul Haque said the drive to nab other accused is on.
Some 33 people including main accused Shahidul Islam alias Swadhin Member have, so far, been arrested till Saturday night.
Swadhin Member will be handed over to Shalla police today.
At least 35 houses belong to the people of the Hindu community in Naogaon were damaged while 40 more houses vandalised partially in an attack on the houses of minority community on March 17 allegedly after a Hindu youth criticised Hefajat-e-Islam Joint Secretary General Maulana Mamunul Haque on social media.
Two separate cases have been filed by the police and villagers over the incident.
Earlier police said one Jhumon Das Apon,23, was arrested from Shahkai Bazar in Shalla upazila on March 16 on charge of criticising the Hefajat leader on social media .
Jhumon is the son of Gupendra Das, a resident of Noapara village.
Shalla police OC Nazmul Haque told media that locals handed Jhumon over to police accusing him of publishing post from his own facebook account criticising Mamunul Haque the Hefajat leader on social media.
Legal steps would be taken in this connection, he added.
