PK Halder’s escape: List of 67 immigration police members in HC
The list of 67 immigration police members, deployed at the Banapole Land Port during the travel of Prashanta Kumar Halder alias PK Halder to India, has been pressed before the High Court.
Inspector General of police submitted the list on Monday, deputy attorney general AKM Amin Uddin Manik confirmed.
On March 1, Amin Uddin Manik informed media that PK Halder, the disgraced director of International Leasing and Finance Service Ltd (ILFSL), escaped from the country on October 23, 2019, through Benapole land port.
Earlier, immigration department said PK Halder fled the country as the Anti-Corruption commission (ACC) delayed to send letter to them.
But on the other hand, the the anti-graft body submitted a written statement where it said the information provided by the immigration department on PK Halder fled from the country is not right.
The letter on ban of 24 people including PK Halder to leave country has sent to the immigration department by 10:30am on October 23, 2019. But they did not received the latter, the ACC said.
Halder reportedly amassed Tk 3,600 crore and laundered the money abroad while performing his duties as director at ILFSL.
On January 8, the ACC filed a case against Halder for acquiring wealth of approximately Tk 274,91,55,355 (almost Tk 275 crore) beyond any known income sources and money laundering.
