Police file case over Noakhali clash


Police have filed a case against 248 persons over the Awami League factional clash in Companiganj upazila of Noakhali district .

Companiganj Police Station SI Zakir Hossain filed the case Wednesday afternoon mentioning the names of 98 persons. Moveover, 150 unidentified persons were also made accused in the case.

Meanwhile, police have, so far, detained at least 27 people over the incident.

Confirming the matter, Companiganj Police OC Meer Jahidul Haque Ronny said the feuding groups obstructed police to discharge their duties.

They also swooped on the law enforcers, leaving a number of cops injured including  OC Jahidul.

A police hunt began to nab the accused, he added.

A man was killed and at least 50 people were injured in a clash between two groups of Awami League at Basurhat in Noakhali’s Companiganj upazila on Tuesday.


A clash took place reportedly between the supporters of Basurhat Municipality Mayor Abdul Quader Mirza and suspended Companiganj Upazila Awami League organizing secretary Mizanur Rahman (Badal) at Rupali Chattar area in Basurhat Municipality in the evening.
