Google has announced that the second generation of open source UI development platform Flutter has entered general availability, with support for desktop and web apps.
Flutter is a tool that helps developers build applications equally effectively across multiple platforms without the hassle of writing bispoke code for each operating system.
When the service was first made available in 2018, it only provided support for Android and iOS applications. In the meantime, with the release of Google Beta, there are dripped users who have added support for web apps, MacOS, Linux, Windows and many more, but these iterations have not been widely found, or have not been commercially developed to fully develop applications.
However, with the release of Flutter 2.0, Google has rolled out full support for these additional operating systems to all users. Basically from the same partnership codebase, developers can now create applications that run on desktop platforms such as mobile.
