Begum
Rokeya University vice-chancellor Prof Dr Nazmul Ahsan Kalimullah
has been declared unwanted on the campus.
Bangabandhu
Parishad, a teachers' organisation of the university, in late afternoon on Thursda declared Kalimullah 'unwanted' making allegation that he lied staying in Dhaka and made negative remarks about very
important people of the state including the education minister.
Moshiur
Rahman, general secretary of the organsiation at BRU, made the declaration at a press conference held on the campus.
He
said Kalimullah was involved in various irregularities and
corruption which included being continuously absent from work
defying the president's directives, covering-up of admission test fraud
incident, recruitment of manpower violating the University Grants
Commission (UGC) directives, irregularities in
recruitment of teachers, and corruption and irregularities in the
construction work on the campus.
As the UGC found the involvement of Kalimullah in irregularities and corruption in
the construction of Sheikh Hasina Hall and Dr Wazed Research and
Training Institute, he started lying holding a press conference in
Dhaka, Moshiur added.
Earlier on Thursday afternoon, Prof Kalimullah held a press conference in Dhaka where he termed the UGC probe report as 'false, fabricated and baseless,' blaming Education Minister Dr Dipu Moni for influencing the UGC in making the report against him.
Rejecting the UGC report outright, he said the report was prepared at the directive of Education Minister Dr Dipu Moni.
Replying
to this, the Education Ministry sent a press release saying the
allegations made by Kalimullah are 'false, fabricated, baseless and ill
motivated.
However, another
inquiry is being processed by the UGC following a letter from a group of
teachers of the university to the Education Minister bringing 45
allegations against the VC.
