Elephant tramples speech-impaired woman to death in Bandarban

A speech-impaired woman was trampled to death by a wild elephant in Lama upazila of Bandarban district early Wednesday.

The deceased was identified as Baby Akter, 26, daughter of Mohammad Solaiman, a resident of Amtali Muslimpara area under Aziznagar union in the upazila.

Mizanur Rahman, officer in-charge of Lama Police Station, said the elephant attacked the woman in the area at about 2:00am, leaving her dead on the spot.
