Three Rohingyas killed in Teknaf 'gunfight'



Three suspected Rohingya robbers were killed in a reported gunfight with Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) in Jadimura Shalban Hill at Teknaf upazila in Cox’s Bazar district on Tuesday evening.

The deceased were identified as Jakir Ahmed, son of Abdul Amin of Hnila Nayapara Rohingya camp, and his two companions Hamid and Zahir.

Jakir was an accused in over 20 cases including of murder, rape and drugs.

RAB-15 Wing Commander Azim Ahmed said on information that members of terrorist group ‘Jakir Bahini’ was staying in the Shalban hilly area, a team of the elite force conducted a drive there.

Sensing the presence of the team, the gang opened fire on the RAB team. In retaliation, the elite force also fired back which triggered a gunfight.

Later, the team recovered three bullet hit bodies from the spot.

Nine guns were also recovered from the spot, RAB claimed.
