AL-backed candidate wins Munshiganj municipality

Awami League-backed mayor candidate Mohammad Faysal Biplob won Munshiganj municipality election held on Saturday.    

Faysal got 27,276 votes while his nearest BNP-backed candidate Md Shahidul Islam bagged 2,604 votes.

Besides, Islami Andolan Bangladesh's Hafiz Uddin bagged 876 votes while independent candidate Mojibur Rahman 795 and MA Quader 301 votes.

Except some incidents of clash, the third phase elections to 62 municipalities held peacefully from 8am to 4pm without any break.

After ending counting, returning officer Ariful Haque announced the result unofficially.
