One killed in Ukhiya Rohingya camp gunfight


Two armed groups exchanged fire in Ukhiya Rohingya camp of Cox's Bazar on Tuesday early morning, leaving a youth dead.

Deceased Mohammad Javed,20, was the son of Mohammad Islam, a resident of D/4 block in Tajnimarkhola Rohingya camp.

APBn and local sources said two groups of Rohingyas, one led by Mozammel alias Sheikh and other led by Moulvi Yunus and Nurul Hakim, locked in a gunfight in the morning over establishing supremamcy in the camp.

Some 10-15 rounds of bullet were fired during the clash.

Cox's Bazar 16 APBn commander police superintendent Tariqul Islam Tarique confirmed the matter.

He said the body was sent to Cox's Bazar Sadar Hospital morgue.

Incidents of gunfight among different groups have taken place in Rohingya camps recently over establishing supremacy that left at least nine dead.
