7-day quarantine for incoming UK passengers |
The government has decided to extend the four-day quarantine period for those incoming passengers from London of UK to seven days from January 25 (Monday).
Biman Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer Mokabbir Hossain confirmed information in a WhatsApp message following the decision of the Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (CAAB). Increasing quarantine period for the UK returnees, the CAAB on Saturday issued a notification. Its Member (Flight Operation and Regulations) M. Zia Ul Kabir signed the circular. The circular of CAAB said that in view of Covid-19 situation in UK and instruction of carrying 'PCR based Covid-19 negative certificates, the incoming passengers from UK will be sent to selected hotels for seven days mandatorily institutional quarantine. All expenses of the hotel will be borne by the passengers. It also said that samples of the passengers will be collected after seven days. If they find negative, they will be released for going to their destinations. But, once they tested positive, they will be sent to day 14-days quarantines in government designated hospitals. All expenses will also be borne by them. Being effective from 'zero' hour of January 25, the circular will remain effective till further notice. |
