Four people drowned and 10 others are still missing as a fishing trawler capsized in the Bay of Bengal near the St Martin’s island in Cox’s Bazar on Saturday.

Rescued fishermen said a fishing trawler named FV Janzabin carrying 26 fishermen sank amid bad weather while fishing in the deep sea, 20 nautical miles from Teknaf in Cox's Bazar, on Saturday morning.

The fishing trawler went to sea a week ago, said Mohammad Ali, chairman of Charlakshya Union Parishad in Chittagong's Karnafuli upazila. He said he received news that the trawler sank in the morning due to foggy weather.

Being informed, two ships of Navy rushed to the spot and rescued 12 people.
