Moheshkhali's Matarbari gas cylinder blast death toll rises to three
Death toll in gas cylinder blast at Matarbari in Moheshkhali of Cox's Bazar district has risen to three.
A child died on the spot in the blast, while another child succumbed on way to hospital and cylinder owner, who was also a seller of baloon died later on.
Eight more including a child were also injured in the blast.
Moheshkhali Police Station's officer-in-charge (OC) Abdul Hye stated it to the media.
He said Mohammad Ehsan, 12, son of Jahangir Alam of Dakkhin Miazipara in Matarbari union, died on the spot. Sadequl Islam Rahat, 13, son of Faridul Alam of Sikderpara in Matarbari union died on his way to hospital, while baloon seller Mohammad Alamgir, 42, died at Chattogram Medical College Hospital while underwent treatment there. He was the son of Sirajul Islam of Chakaria in Cox's Bazar district.
It may be mentioned that a two-day annual meeting was going on at Matarbari Azizul Ulum Madrasa. Friday was the last day of the meeting. On the occasion of the meeting, baloon peddler Alamgir Hossain was selling baloon with his gas cylinder at the nearby Matarbari High School ground. At one stage of filling gas into the baloons, the gas cylinder exploded leaving several dead and injured.
The injured are being given treatment at Chakaria and Chattogram Medical College Hospital, said Matarbari union parishad chairman Mohammad Mahmud Ullah. Following the accident, Fire Service personnel and Moheshkhali Circle's ASP Zahidur Rahman visited the spot.
